| MQP Honduras Mission Team Update |
| The 2008 Honduran Mission team is back and each of us is already missing the warmth of sun that we enjoyed while we were there. This year’s trip, 12 days in all, was filled with many memorable moments and connections that go beyond any boundaries. The team was very busy, and each day was filled with new challenges that come from cultural differences, language barriers and our own need to do the most we could. We held 3 medical and eye clinics, seeing over 500 people in 3 days. We stood in the rivers of two poor communities and washed the children’s hair. The team worked one whole day in Padre’s bi-lingual school to help get the library up and running and we helped chaperone their first ever field trip to one of the ancient caves of this area. We were also lucky to be able to visit the orphanage in town and spend some time with these little ones, getting and giving hugs and leave them with a few toys. All in all we handed out over 6,000 toothbrushes and paste, a lot of soap and shampoo, 3 suitcases of beanie babies and we left each community we visited a suitcase of school supplies and one soccer ball. Out of the 61 suitcases (3,000 pounds of supplies) we carried down with us, we had 24 of them filled with medical supplies which we left at 2 different clinics. The team has returned to our everyday lives, but pieces of our hearts have been left with the people of Honduras.
